Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey are members of an interstate compact that allows the states to share player pools across their borders. WSOP players in NV and NJ share the same tables and enter the same tournaments.

WSOP NJ is part of the All American Poker Network, which includes 888, so their players are also in the same pool.

This congregation of players from different states and different poker brands in the same online poker room makes for the biggest poker room in the US.

New Jersey poker players will find that being in the largest poker room has advantages. Poker tournament guarantees can be bigger, and more cash game tables at more stakes are available than at other sites.

The time difference between the East and West coasts works in WSOP players’ favor as peak hours tend to overlap, making it easier to get into the game you want to play.

WSOP new player sign-up bonus

Every new customer at WSOP New Jersey is entitled to claim a first deposit bonus of up to $1,000, provided they use bonus code 10FREE.

That sounds like a lot of money to give away, and it is, so there are a few conditions:

  • The bonus amount depends on your first deposit. If you deposit $100, the bonus is matched at 100% to be $100. If you deposit more, the bonus increases in line with the deposit to a maximum of $1,000.
  • The minimum qualifying deposit is $10.
  • To receive the bonus, you must play real-money poker tournaments or cash games and earn Action Player Points (APP).
  • Every time you earn 50 APPs, WSOP pays $5 of your bonus into your account.
  • Two APPS are awarded for every $1 paid in rake or tournament fees at the tables.
  • Players must clear the bonus within 90 days.

In effect, the bonus conditions mean that your bonus is worth around 20% of the fees you pay to play. This level of rakeback is comparable with the other poker operators in New Jersey.

The release in $5 payments is particularly useful for lower-volume players and those new to online poker. It means that even if you can’t put in the hands you need to claim all the bonus, you will receive a good proportion.

In addition to this bonus, all new players receive an entry to seven freeroll tournaments.

The WSOP puts $100 into the tournament prize pool, and you get to enter the tournament for free. The freeroll tickets are valid for seven days after your first deposit.

As the freerolls are only open to new WSOP players, the chances of winning some cash are good. The standard of play is not likely to be high and there are small tournament fields.

How to open an online poker account at WSOP New Jersey

To start playing online poker at WSOP NJ, you must first set up your account.

Click on the link to the new player page at WSOP and download the online poker client.

WSOP needs your basic details so that it can confirm you are not underage.

You must be at least 21 years or older to play real-money poker in New Jersey. You will also need to give your email address, full name and choose a screen name.

Other players will only see your screen name, so choose something you will enjoy.

When you select your password, keep a record of it because you will use it to sign in to your account on your desktop computer and your smartphone or tablet.

You can play poker at WSOP NJ on mobile devices using Android or Apple operating systems, but you will have to download the app.

If you have an account at WSOP Nevada, you must set up a separate account to play in New Jersey. You can’t use your existing Nevada account to play when you are in New Jersey, and vice versa.

Once you are logged in, you are ready to head to the tables.

But before you do, you should take a few minutes you get a feel for the poker lobby so you can see what games are running and how to find them.

You will also need to deposit money into your new poker account.

How to deposit money at WSOP New Jersey

WSOP NJ offers five ways for you to fund your poker account:

  • Credit and Debit Cards: WSOP accepts Mastercard, Visa and Discover cards. The maximum deposit is $600, and the minimum is $10. Not all banks allow gambling transactions, so if your card is declined, use one of the other deposit methods.
  • ACH E-checks: E-checks work just like a paper check, but you fill in the details online. You need your bank name, nine-digit routing number and 10-digit US personal bank account number. You will find these numbers on your paper checks. The maximum deposit is $5,000, with a daily limit of $30,000. The minimum deposit is $10.
  • PayPal: PayPal is a payment processing service accepted by major online retailers. The maximum single deposit is $1,500 with a $10 minimum.
  • PayNearMe: Most 7-Eleven stores offer PayNearMe services. You make a cash deposit at the store and enter the details into your online account. You can deposit a maximum of $500 a day. The minimum is $10.
  • Deposit at the Casino Cage: Caesars Entertainment owns WSOP New Jersey, which means you can make deposits and withdrawals from your online account at the cashier on the casino floor.

When it comes time to withdraw your cash, you can do so using all methods except for credit cards and PayNearMe.

WSOP New Jersey poker games

There is an almost infinite variety of poker variants, but Texas No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) is, by far, the biggest game.

This game is played at the WSOP Main Event.

Before online gaming, stud poker was more popular. The online poker boom brought NLHE to the fore, mainly because it was the game everyone saw on TV while watching the World Series.

The other varieties of poker available at WSOP New Jersey are:

  • Limit Hold’em
  • Pot Limit Omaha (PLO)
  • Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo
  • Limit Omaha
  • Limit Omaha Hi/Lo
  • Limit Seven Card Stud
  • Limit 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo

The variants are available as cash games and tournaments, although the availability of tables for the less popular games and stakes is limited outside peak playing hours.

Money

The lowest stakes cash tables are $0.01/$0.02 at full ring (nine players) No-Limit Hold’em. The highest stakes are found at $30/$60 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo at both six-max and full-ring tables.

WSOP NJ Sit and Go tournaments

Sit and Go (SNG) tournaments are usually single-table tournaments that start when all seats are full.

SNGs at WSOP New Jersey come in normal speed and turbo versions.

The blinds increase more quickly in the turbo games, so they finish much sooner. The only heads-up games WSOP offers are heads-up SNGs; otherwise all SNGs are for either six or nine players.

Almost all SNGs are NLHE, although there are PLO games that run a little less often. SNG buy-ins range from 25c through to $200.

Wsop Real Money

SNGs are a popular way to learn basic poker strategy since every game is like being at a multi-table tournament final table.

With so few players, there’s a better chance of finishing in the money and walking away with a prize.

WSOP NJ blast SNGs

Blast SNGs are for even faster action and potentially huge prizes for small stakes. These special SNGs are for four players and use a hyper-turbo blind structure.

Before the SNG starts, a random number generator sets the tournament prize pool at a multiple of the buy-in. The multiple can be from twice the buy-in to 10,000 times the buy-in. Whenever the prize pool is a large multiple, the excitement increases fast, and the big prizes are decided after only a few minutes of play.

Blast buy-ins range from 10c to $30, so for example, the $1 buy-in games can deliver a $10,000 prize pool. Big prizes don’t come around very often, but when they do, they get the adrenaline pumping.

WSOP multi-table tournaments

The regular WSOP New Jersey tournament schedule includes several flagship events.

These events are well-publicized, come with high guarantees, and there are a lot of low-priced satellites so that everyone has a chance to play them whatever their budget.

Sunday is the top day for playing online poker, so the Sunday flagship events get the most attention.

Currently, these are:

  • $100,000 Guaranteed: $320 buy-in
  • Monthly Sunday $50,000 Guaranteed: $1,000 buy-in
  • $30,000 Guaranteed: $500 buy-in
  • $10,000 Guaranteed: $100 buy-in
  • $8,000 Guaranteed: Two of these run, one PLO tournament with a $215 buy-in and an NLHE knockout event with a $75 buy-in.

On Saturdays, there is a $15,000 guaranteed event with a $250 buy-in, although this varies.

There are also daily $10,000 and $15,000 guaranteed tournaments. Every Tuesday, which is a quiet night for poker, WSOP NJ runs a Tuesday Showdown $30,000 guaranteed with a $500 buy-in.

Filling out the schedule are hundreds of other events without guarantees, including satellite events and every possible variety of rebuy tournaments.

WSOP has a regular schedule of tournament series which cluster the big guarantee events together. These provide additional incentives such as leaderboards with excellent prizes for players who do well.

Throughout the year, there are opportunities to win tickets and accommodation packages to the live WSOP series in Las Vegas.

Win a WSOP bracelet online

WSOP.com is unique in giving players the chance to win a genuine WSOP event while playing from home in New Jersey.

The 2020 WSOP has 14 bracelet events that will be played online and available at WSOP NJ. Not only are these likely to come with $1 million-plus prize pools, but they also deliver a real WSOP bracelet as a prize for the winner.

WSOP New Jersey VIP rewards scheme

The WSOP New Jersey VIP rewards scheme is a big plus point for players. It is admirably simple.

Every dollar paid in rake at a cash game or fee in a tournament earns 2x APP points. The scheme is split into four VIP monthly levels and a yearly level.

Each month, if you earn the qualifying number of points, you achieve one of the four VIP levels. If you earn a certain number of points in a year, you move to the Champions Club.

Your APPs convert into WSOP points using a multiplier that depends on your VIP level.

The four monthly levels, the number of points needed to qualify and applicable multiplier are:

  • Player: Zero points and no multiplier
  • Bronze: 200 APPs per month and 4x multiplier
  • Silver: 750 APPs per month and 10x multiplier
  • Elite: 1,500 APPs per month and 12.5x multiplier

At the Champions Club level, you need to earn 20,000 points during the year to qualify, but it brings a massive 16x multiplier.

The multiplier is important because you can exchange your WSOP points for cash.

Every time you have earned 1,000 points, you can go to the “My Rewards” page and convert your points to cash at the rate of 100 points for $1.

Obviously, the multiplier makes a considerable difference to your conversion rate. A player on the lowest VIP level who earns 1,000 APP points gets the same number of WSOP points, which can convert to $10 in cash.

A player on the elite level who earns 1,000 APP points gets 12,500 WSOP points. These can be converted into $125 in cash.

The higher VIP levels are very achievable for mid-stakes players on reasonable volumes of play, so it’s worth keeping an eye on your monthly points total. A little extra play toward the end of the month can make a big difference to the value of your APPs.

WSOP Action Player points earn Caesars Rewards points

One benefit of the rewards scheme that will be of particular value to players is the ability to connect the WSOP rewards with Caesars Rewards.

If you have visited one of Caesars New Jersey properties, you are probably a member of the Caesars Rewards scheme and hold a Caesars Rewards card.

If you connect your WSOP account to your Caesars account, you will receive one tier credit at Caesars Rewards for each Action Player point you earn at WSOP New Jersey.

Caesars Rewards provides discounts on hotel accommodation and meals at Caesars casinos together with other benefits that are promoted in the casinos.

WSOP New Jersey customer support

Customer support at WSOP New Jersey is effective but is all online. There is no direct telephone support line to call.

There is an excellent FAQ accessible from the website and directly from the poker client. For more complex queries, you must submit through the online form on the “Customer Support” page.

The means of accessing support may be limited, but players report that the service offered is speedy and problems are usually resolved fairly.

This summer, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will hold 85 gold bracelet events online between WSOP.com and GG Poker.

The former client will cater to players in Nevada and New Jersey (players in Delaware are NOT able to participate), while the latter will serve the international base.

WSOP.com will hold 31 events – one each day for the month of July – while the other 54 will take place on GG Poker.

For players either in Nevada or New Jersey (remember, you must be 21+ to participate), or those planning to travel in, PokerNews put together all the information you need to know and also answered some lingering questions.

Follow all the latest from the WSOP - LIVE!

Download WSOP.com

The first step in getting set up to play on WSOP.com is to download the client. You can do so for both mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.6.8).

To get the correct version of the client, use the links below:

Also, the WSOP.com client can only support playing one table at a time on mobile.

Finally, pot-limit Omaha (PLO) games and tournaments are not compatible on mobile and must be played via a computer.

Create an Account & Verify Identity

Once you've downloaded WSOP.com, you will need to register for an account (create a username and password).

To do so, you will need to enter a telephone number with area code.

They will also need your social security number to verify your identity.

The WSOP's Danielle Barille told PokerNews: 'All players go through a verification process.

'In the event a player does not pass the verification, if they are domestic, they will be required to upload a copy of their current driver's license, a current (no more than 90 days old) utility bill verifying the registered address. A copy of the patron's Social Security card may also be required.'

RealWsop

If perchance you don't have such information, you will not be approved for a real money account and will instead need to upload further documentation for the verification process. Instructions will be emailed to you.

For international players, you will be required to upload a copy of your passport and current (no more than 90 days old) utility bill verifying your address in your registered country.

If you run into any issues during the registration process the WSOP.com support team can be reached 24/7 at 1-866-745-2385 or via email at [email protected]

Geo-Location

The WSOP.com geo-location system uses your computer's Wi-Fi signal, together with other detected Wi-Fi networks (such as your cell phone), to determine your physical location.

In order to successfully geo-locate, Wi-Fi must be enabled on your device.

However, you don't actually need to be connected to the Internet using Wi-Fi, just make sure you're able to see Wi-Fi networks from your computer.

Connecting from a Hotel

One issue players frequently experience is trying to log onto WSOP.com via a shared internet IP address, such as players staying at the same house or hotel. In such cases, you may get the following error message:

'Sorry, you are not permitted to join this tournament. Another member, with an identical IP address, is already playing at this tournament.'

Barille told PokerNews this shouldn't be an issue for Nevada players: 'Nevada regulators have approved the whitelisting of Caesars hotel property IPs for the WSOP (Online) Bracelet Events from July 1-July 31.

'We are still waiting for approval from New Jersey regulators to approve New Jersey Caesars properties. Players attempting to play from the same physical residential address will not be able to play MTTs, SNGs, or cash games as state regulations prohibit multiple accounts playing on the same IP address.”

For other hotels, players have found a simple workaround. Instead of logging in while connected to the shared internet, instead create a hotspot using your cellphone.

Connect to the hotspot and log in via that connection.

Once connected, you can then jump onto the regular/shared internet and play with no problems. The hiccup only applies during the log-in portion.

Why Can't I Connect to WSOP Online?

According to the WSOP's troubleshooting page: 'Check to see if your computer is using a Firewall or Proxy Server. If so, turn it off or enable it to allow connection to WSOP.com. You might have been temporarily disconnected from the server, which may be due to Internet connection problems. Try again in a few minutes. It might be a temporary routing problem local to your area.'

Support Issues

'Due to the current pandemic, we have had to make some adjustments to our Support offerings (we are also seeing a significant increase in traffic on the site and increased contact volumes),' Barille told PokerNews.

'Phone support is once again available in New Jersey and Nevada for limited hours per day (check for details, subject to change, here).

'Patrons also have the option to chat with Support (available during limited hours; subject to change) and email. Customer service staffing will be increased during the series, but all customers are encouraged to make sure their accounts are verified and in good standing in advance of the series.'

Remember, if you run into any issues during the registration process the WSOP.com support team can assist. For those in Nevada, they can be reached 24/7 at 1-866-745-2385 or via email at [email protected] In New Jersey, call 1-855-218-6232 from Noon-6 p.m. ET daily or email [email protected]

Addressing Multi-accounting & Ghosting Concerns

When asked about player concerns regarding multi-accounting and ghosting, Barille responded: 'WSOP.com is fully regulated and licensed in Nevada and New Jersey to highest international standards.

'We have a sophisticated risk and fraud model to detect fraudulent player behavior. The software detects VPN's and similar scripts. WSOP.COM has run dozens of online bracelet events without incident.'

What If I Win a Bracelet?

The winner of each bracelet event will be contacted by a WSOP representative within 48 hours of the completion of the tournament.

There will be a weekly virtual bracelet ceremony and press conference, and physical WSOP gold bracelets will be mailed to your registered address on file on WSOP.com.

Promotions and Leaderboard

On top of a full slate of tournaments, the WSOP will have a $100k Online Bracelet Series Leaderboard that will award $100,000 in cash.

They will also have two 100% up to $500 deposit match bonuses throughout July for redepositing players. New players are able to redeem a 100% up to $1,000 match bonus.
